The incidence of mental illness in the older population is high. People living in the community and in long term care facilities are at risk for mental illness.
The Senior Mental Health Programs at “Mental Health” are created with the intention of caring for and supporting people 65 and older with mild, moderate or severe mental health concerns.
Our multi disciplinary team of Seniors Mental Health Services provides assessment, consultation and time limited treatment. Our clinicians work together with the senior and family members to identify the problem and provide treatment, education and support.
Mental health issues often go unrecognized and un-diagnosed, particularly among older adults. We give treatment for:
Sleep and appetite changes
Loss of interest in appearance
Severe memory loss
Individualized treatment plans are designed to meet each patient's specific needs. The program is also designed to support family members, and to educate them on how they can be part of the ongoing treatment process.
The process begins with an in-depth assessment conducted by our team member. The assessment evaluates current mental health symptoms and diagnoses, life circumstance, sources of stress, medications, and cognitive functioning, as well as personal and medical history.
Treatments may include individual psychotherapy, family therapy, grief counseling, and/or medication management.
Each client's plan of recovery is coordinated under the direction of a psychiatrist who works with our multidisciplinary team composed of nurses, social workers, occupational and recreational therapists, and registered dietitians.
Every recovery program incorporates aftercare. The aftercare program helps each client make the transition to independence more successful. “Mental Health” delivers an array of exceptional quality mental health therapy services for individuals 55 and older.
We work to ensure that you are able to easily deal with any of the challenges your life delivers.
